Friday 15th January 2021 – Safety Cove, Port Arthur to Little Norfolk Bay, Taranna

At 0830 we departed Safety Cove for Little Norfolk Bay. The wind was variable around 10 knots, with a 1-2m swell as we re-entered the Tasman Sea.

The scenery along the cliffs did not disappoint as we entered Frederick Henry Bay. We passed another Fish Farm off Wedge Bay though not as big as the farm at Port Arthur. The boat traffic increased as we turned into Norfolk Bay with the majority heading to or from the Denison Canal.

We arrived at Norfolk Bay at 1600.

(Total distance travelled to date 465nm)

  1. Sounds like you’re having a great adventure. Well mostly. Poor Georgie with the dog bite. Big hugs. It will feel very strange not seeing you next week Georgie but it’s an awesome way of learning about Australia. Thanks for letting us know how you’re going. XO

    1. Hi Audrey! I will miss not seeing you in the morning too. I liked sitting there freezing with you! 😂 I hope your enjoying the holidays so far. Love Georgie 😊

  2. No rabies yet? About from the local hounds, you are having a great adventure.
A question for Georgie..What is the difference between a mile and a nautical mile? All I know is that it is harder to run a nautical mile.
The Blog is a great idea.
    Keep up the good work.

    1. Hi Mr. K, I’m well thanks no sign of rabies (thankfully). For your information, a nautical mile is based on the circumference of the earth and is equal to one minute of latitude. One nautical mile is slightly more than a land mile.(1nm = 1.1508 statute miles) Georgie 😊
