Another overcast day with patches of sunshine. We took a dinghy ride to shore to take a closer look at the old Quarry. The sandstone quarry (worked between 1860 and 1890) provided stone for public buildings including the Melbourne Post Office. The stone contains exquisite colours so we could understand why it had been in high demand. It was interesting to see the 130 year old wooden supports still in place holding up sections of the ceiling.
Off to the side of the quarry we noticed a rope hanging down the side of the cliff, so being inquisitive we used the rope to pull ourselves up the cliff. Not wanting to be left behind Lucy tried to climb up to too so we managed to lift her up as well. Once at the top of the cliff we had a great view of the bay.
As it was the last day of the month it was time to check how Georgie had managed the grocery budget. The first month was going to be difficult as we had no baseline, we were in a new routine and away from our local shops where we know where to get the best prices for items. We tallied up the receipts and to our surprise Georgie had $49.57 to spare! Not bad for her introduction to budgeting! We will reduce the budget for groceries this month to make life a bit more interesting!
We departed The Quarries at 1130 and arrived at Mickeys Bay at 1300. Soon after arriving we headed to shore and went for a short walk over to the entrance to Cloudy Bay Lagoon.
I thought you were looking a tad slimmer, even Lucy! The smile on Georgie’s face says it all.
If Georgie wants tips on cheap meals to boost her budget, I’m only a phone call away – Love Auntie Wendy xx 😉
