Saturday 6th February 2021 – Randall’s Bay to Port Cygnet

Another relatively warm morning so after a walk along the cliff to the next bay we took the SUP’s along the rocky shore to check out the kelp forests. The water visibility was good and there were a lot of fish and and seagrasses so we decided to put on the wetsuits and go for a snorkel.

We anchored the dinghy and with Lucy keeping watch we snorkelled our way along the rocks. The array of different sea grasses was awesome. We noticed a number of wrasse, smaller bait fish and a huge sting ray that was just as inquisitive of us as we were of it, not taking any chances we kept our distance!

After the snorkel Mark suggested that we try SKUPing (water skiing on a SUP behind the tender). Mark made a tow rope and tied it off to the dinghy. We each had a turn at being pulled along at the dinghy’s top speed, it was good fun!

The wind was forecast to turn southerly so at 1430 hours we pulled up anchor and motored around to Port Cygnet which was only ½ an hour away.

Lovely clear water
