Peter and Sal on Music Maker anchored next to us in Port Cygnet, it was good to catch up with them to hear of their travels since we crossed paths at Deal Island in December.
We pulled up anchor at 0800 to find our chain completely covered in mud, like a sausage. It took us about 15 minutes to wash the chain before it went into the anchor locker. The wind was 10-15 knots from the south east with 0.5 metre swell so we motor sailed to Simpsons Bay in the hope that we’d be able to take the dinghy ashore at The Neck Lookout on the Bruny Island isthmus. Unfortunately, after anchoring 1nm offshore in the bay the tide was not on our side as it would have meant pulling the dinghy over 500 metres through ankle deep water to shore. If the weather was warmer, we would have been up for the challenge, but we admitted defeat, pulled up anchor and continued on our way to Little Fancy Bay.
We arrived at 1400 and shortly after took the dinghy ashore to walk the beach. There were towers of oysters on the rocks so we knocked a few off, shucked them with a rock and I ate them natural, very nice! Mark’s not a fan of oysters and couldn’t bring himself to eat one. Georgie was not game to try as they looked “disgusserus” (from the Big Friendly Giant movie). Next time I’ll gather some and make Oysters Kilpatrick.
The bread looks great! As does the rest… 💕
Aaaw, lovely photo of two friends watching the sun set! 💕💕💕
