Monday 15th February 2021 – Snug Bay to Quarantine Bay, Bruny Island

With the wind forecast to be from north east at 15-20 knots we pulled up anchor and motored across to Quarantine Bay which would be the last anchorage before going up on the hard stand at Kettering the following morning.

Making the most of the dull overcast day, I cooked up meals for the next 4 days knowing that after a full day of working on the boat, neither Mark nor I would feel like preparing dinner of an evening. Thankfully, the boat yard will allow us to stay on board whilst on the hard stand, though we wouldn’t be able to use the toilet or galley sink for obvious reasons. There will be a shower/toilet/laundry available on site. Mark and I worked through the logistics trying to ensure we had covered all basis and hopefully there would be no nasty surprises!

After lunch we took the dinghy ashore and rock hopped around Quarantine Bay until we reached the Marks Point Conservation area where there were several short walks. There were some magnificent grass trees in this area that must have been hundreds of years old.

As we were walking up one of the tracks Mark saw a copper head snake disappear off into the scrub, he was just about walking on air ( Mark does not like snakes)!

Just a heads up that this will be the last post until we get off the hardstand. We will take photos of our progress and include them in our next post, which if all goes well, will be Saturday 20th February.
To all our families and friends in Victoria, we are thinking of you, stay safe xx.
