Sunday 27th December 2020 – Deal Island

We arrived at Deal Island at 04:30 and anchored in East Cove before catching up on sleep for a few hours.

Ashore we met the super friendly local wildlife and checked out the Deal Island Museum before meeting Vicki who is caretaking the Island with her partner (Shane) for the next 3 months. They flew in with provisions in December and are due to leave in March. They are also sailors and have their own boat which they purchased 27 years ago and sailed the Pacific.

Back to the boat for another sleep (nanny naps are good!) before heading back to shore for a walk up Barn Hill.

Later that afternoon we headed over to West Cove in preparation for a Westerly change, well that was a terrible decision as we pitched and rolled waiting for the change to come through. After 1.5 hours, the change had still not arrived, so we pulled up anchor and went back to East Cove.
