The forecast was for freshening winds from the south so we motored across to the north side of Schouten Island in preparation for the change. On arrival we soon discovered that the north easterly swell passing through Schouten Passage was wrapping around into the bay making it uncomfortably rolly so picked up the anchor and motor sailed north to Cooks Corner.
On arriving at Cooks Corner I took Lucy for a dinghy ride and part way through the trip noticed that the bung had come out so there was a bit of water filling the dinghy. I went fast to try and drain it out and then pulled up on the beach so Mark could help drain it out and put the bung back in. Unfortunately we didn’t get all the water out and while I was taking Lucy back to the boat Mark’s life jacket which was on the floor of the dinghy auto inflated, it gave Lucy and I a bit of a fright but at least we know our life jackets work! Lucy was then dropped back off at the boat – which she was not very impressed about so went straight to bed.
The rest of the day was spent running the water maker and exploring the beach.
Georgie’s dinghy handling skills are improving.
