Today we motor-sailed from Cooks corner to Coles Bay so that we could take Lucy for a walk and grab some groceries.
After dropping off the rubbish we went for a walk through/around town before grabbing a few groceries (being mindful that we had to carry whatever we purchased a kilometre back to the dinghy – by the time we got back to the beach I was having visions of Caroline’s beach buggy, or one of those granny trollies).
We kept the receipts for Georgie to add to her budget spreadsheet. Georgie (& Mark) wanted to get a pie so I reminded Georgie that this would be deducted from her potential savings (pocket money) and she was OK with that so we all got something at the bakery. It will be good for her to tally the receipts and understand how purchases such as this impact the overall budget. My Aunties saying comes to mind save your pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
We loaded up the dinghy with the shopping and Lucy and Mark piggy backed Georgie & I through the shallows to the dinghy – providing some light entertainment for a family picnicking nearby.
We motored back to Cook’s corner and donned our wetsuits to clean the waterline of the boat down to the first chine. Mark had his 7mm wetsuit, I had a 3mm full wetsuit and Georgie had a short 3mm wetsuit. Needless to say, Mark did the majority of the cleaning as it was really cold. We supported him from the warmth of the deck.
