The weather was ordinary today with rain and a 20-30 knot south east wind. We remained anchored in Ladies Bay (which we’d relocated to the previous evening) and got some jobs completed. By early afternoon the skies had cleared, which provided an opportunity to go for a walk to Long Bay. Long Bay is the home to one of the many fish farms owned by Tassal.

Tassal have 3 nurseries in the Huon Valley where salmon eggs are grown into baby fish, known as smolt. After 8 – 12 months the smolt are transferred to sea cages. The sea cages are where the Salmon are kept for 12-18 months and grow until they are at a target size of approximately 5kg per fish.
