Saturday 27th February – Recherche Bay to Bramble Cove, Port Davey

Our alarm went off at 0500 hours, we pulled up anchor at 0515 am and motored our way out of Recherche Bay. The cray boats that had been moored in Recherche Bay were already at work as we turned south towards South East Cape. Mark put up the main and genoa and we settled in for our journey.

We passed Maatsuyker Island enjoying the new scenery that the voyage was providing. By the time we rounded South West Cape there was a 4 metre swell (including a 1m sea which was a bit untidy) rolling through. Escapade was handling the swell well, with the main and genoa stopping the majority of rolling. We had dosed Georgie up on travel sickness tablets which enabled her to sleep most of the journey but unfortunately with less than 2 hours to go she was ill.

The scenery was spectacular as we approached Port Davey passing the Breaksea Islands at 1430 hours and anchoring in Bramble Cove.
